This NHISOM Summer Music Day Camp is for young people ages 7 to 16. It provides introductory and advanced music instruction in chorus, strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, percussion, guitar, improvisation, classical ensemble, jazz band, folk group, and orchestral performance. The 2009 program will be offered August 3-7, 9:00am to 3:00pm, in Moultonborough at Moultonborough Academy. Students will attend 40-minute lessons in chorus, improvisation, ensemble performance, as well as concentrating on their chosen field (i.e. chorus, strings, piano, woodwinds/brass, guitar, percussion, introduction to music).

Additionally, each student participates daily in 'Discover an Instrument!' a class where students choose an instrument that they have no experience with and learn how to care for it, play it, and read music with it. Performances at the end of the week highlight what each student group has been working on (e.g., chorus, jazz ensemble, several chamber pieces, beginning cello lessons, student compositions, etc.). Camp performances are open to the public and will be given on the final day of camp in the Academy auditorium at 3pm.

What does my child need for camp?
Students that have chosen a major, other than Introduction to Music or Piano, should bring their own instrument with them. All students will be supplied with a rental instrument for the 'Discover an Instrument!' program. Students should also bring a bag lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.

What if my child plays several different instruments and sings?
Students can select as many 'majors' as they like. We will put them in classes for each different interest, and they do not need to participate in 'Discover an Instrument' class if they do not want to. This program is completely tailored to suit your child's interests.

Is there any way to drop off or pick up my child outside of 9 to 3?
Yes. For an additional $5.00 per hour fee, students can be dropped off at camp as early as 8am, and picked up as late as 4:30pm. Keep in mind that the final camp performance will take place at 3pm on Friday.

How do I register?
Registration for the camp is on now! Registration and brochure is available for download. You may also sign up to our mailing list on this site so that you can receive a brochure by mail.

How much does the camp cost?
The entire camp week costs $270. This includes instruction, rental instrument, materials & music, camp t-shirt, and the best week they will have all summer long!
