About the Lake Winnipesaukee Overnight Music Camp
Lake Winnipesaukee Overnight Music Camp is an overnight music and recreational camp for kids entering Grades 4-12 that takes place at the North Woods & Pleasant Valley YMCA Campground in Turtonboro, NH. In partnership with the New Hampshire Independent School of Music, the YMCA is proud to offer this non-competitive Music Camp for young people.

Structured for the beginner to advanced musician, all activities are separated by age group and ability. Students participate in Orchestra, Improvisation class and Percussion ensemble as well as focused study on their chosen instrument. Even absolute beginners can participate through the Introduction to Music program, where they choose an instrument to learn during the Camp week.

Each day, students study music from 9am to 1pm. After 1pm, students are free to participate in recreational activities such as canoeing/kayaking, horseback riding, campfires, swimming, archery, sports and much more on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee organized by seasoned YMCA counselors. Music Camp students choose a major focus of study. This defines the concentration of musical study for the student during the week. All music activities are conducted by New Hampshire Independent School of Music faculty and their trained assistants.

All students are broken up into Chamber Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, or Folk Group depending on their interest and abilities. These different groups then rehearse a major work that will be performed at the end of the camp week. All students participate in Orchestra, Percussion ensemble, and Improvisation class. And yes, if you are looking for the Lake Winnipesaukee Music Camp that took place at Geneva Point Center last year- this is it, we just changed the location this year.

Students can choose to study: Drums/Percussion, Piano, Guitar/Bass, Strings (violin, viola, cello), Voice, Woodwinds/Brass, or Introduction to Music.
